Ever since I was a youngster visiting the ports on the east coast of England, I have fascinated by tug boats, so when I read about a Tug Boat Race, I had to find out more. Ken Saunderson joins me on the line from the Seattle Maritime Festival. How would you like to organize a one day regatta for 1700 hundred boats and 1600 sailors? The annual round the Isle of Wight race is just such an event. Press officer Peta Stuart-Hunt tells us more about this amazing race. Brad van Liew roared into his home port of Charleston on Tuesday to win leg four of the Velux 5 Oceans race. Brad as now won all four stages and is pretty much guaranteed that first podium place.

This week I went aboard the three-masted barque Picton Castle while she was alongside the dock in Marigot, French St. Martin, where I talked to deckhands Sean Anderson and Abby Stern about life on a sailing ship. Around 75 people attended the Atlantic Crossing Forum held at Lagoonies Bar and Restaurant on Thursday; afterwards I spoke to Mike Childers, the man behind this annual event. Next weekend it’s the Anguilla Regatta, Donald Curtis joins me on the line from Anguilla to tell us more.

This week I’m in Anguilla enjoying the 9th Anguilla Regatta, sailing, drinking cold beer and getting some sand between my toes, so I recorded this edition of YachtBlast earlier in the week. YachtBlast is now coming to the end of its seasonal run and next week, May 15th will be the last show until we start again in November. Seeing as I’m away I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to replay a couple of the most popular interviews from the series. I also have a new interview with author and circumnavigator Captain Fatty Goodlander.
